Theatre Arts to host visit and audition day Feb. 23
On Saturday, Feb. 23, the Theatre Arts department will host a full day dedicated for high school students to meet current students and faculty, as well as learn about the various majors and minors. The day will also include auditions for the BFA in Musical Theatre and several scholarships available to any Theatre Arts student.
The day will begin at 10 a.m. with a tour of campus and the Theatre Arts department facilities by current students in the program. Visitors will learn more about the Theatre Arts programs including the Theatre Arts, Theatre Arts Education, and Musical Theatre majors, and the Technical Theatre minor.
At 11:30 a.m., visitors will meet with admissions specialists before heading to lunch at 12:30 p.m. with Theatre Arts faculty. Following lunch, prospective students will have the chance to audition for early entry into the BFA in Musical Theatre program. Auditions for scholarships offered to any student in the program regardless of major will also take place during the same time.
Wrap up the end of the day with a performance of Theatre Arts’ most recent production, Silent Sky, at 7:30 p.m. in Hayes Auditorium and Broyhill Theatre. Tickets are complimentary for those involved in the event.
Assistant Dean of Arts, Humanities, and Education as well as Director of Theatre Arts Danielle Curtis shared her excitement for the coming event.
“We are looking forward to hosting students and their families on our beautiful campus while allowing them to explore our growing program and have their questions answered all in one day,” she said.
