Why take advantage of a virtual Open House?
In the wake of COVID-19, many colleges have switched their spring Open Houses to virtual formats, meaning that you can tour campus, meet faculty, and chat with students in person from the comfort and safety of your home.
While this is a necessary precaution, it does beg the question: how could you possibly learn about a college without even visiting it in the first place? Well, we are about to tell you!
Here are some ways a virtual Open House can benefit you and how to make the most of it! Before reading on, make sure to mark your calendar for the Lees-McRae virtual Open House on Saturday, April 25.
First benefit to a virtual Open House? Now, no matter where you live in the world, you can learn about Lees-McRae.
With Open House held in person and on campus, you would normally travel to Banner Elk— now you can learn about the college, get the Lees-McRae experience, and chat with faculty, staff, and students right from your computer. You’ll learn about our historic buildings, classrooms and labs, residence halls, athletic complex on our 460-acre campus, and so much more!
An added bonus? You can receive this backstage pass to Lees-McRae without any pressure.
We totally get it! Visiting a college for the first time can be both exciting and nerve wracking! Learning about Lees-McRae from home means you can meet the faculty and explore our innovative academic offerings right in your PJs! Don’t worry, we won’t tell anyone.
While it’s certainly great to see everything in one day, it can be overwhelming at times. What was their name again? What was inside that building we walked by?
Learning about a college online means you can take it at your own pace.
Write down names and places as you “tour” campus and meet with faculty and staff. You’ll come away feeling more prepared for the future ahead of you.
Speaking of feeling more prepared, you can even ask questions, and receive answers, in real time!
You may not want to interrupt a guided tour or presentation session, but an online format allows you to ask your questions and learn more as they pop into your mind! Which is great when there is so much to learn.
We know, shifting to a virtual Open House can feel strange, but you can still tour campus or join us for one of our daily information sessions once visits resume. In the fall, we will have two on-campus Open Houses for you to choose from, so you can experience our beautiful location for yourself. We can’t wait to meet you!
