Juried art exhibition for Communication Arts and Design students to take place March 15

Students in the Communication Arts and Design program will present their work to Asheville-based artist Jack Michael in a juried art exhibition opening on March 15.

The juried art exhibition provides students the opportunity to display their art and have it evaluated by a professional artist working in the field. During the show opening, awards will be announced for best in show, second place, and third place.

Michael is an artist, educator, and public speaker who works in a variety of mediums, including digital design and illustration, printmaking, sewing, painting, and motorcycle-based performance art. She often addresses political and social issues in her artwork, teaching, and research. She has participated in teaching residences and solo shows around the world and currently works as a Professor of Art at Blue Ridge Community College.

In addition to judging the student art exhibition, Michael will be giving a lecture about her work on Thursday, March 11 at 11 a.m in the King-Shivell Gallery, located in the Cannon Student Center. Both the artist lecture and student exhibition show are open to members of the campus community.
