Her Bobcat Story

While searching for schools, Christine attended a college fair where she met a representative from Lees-McRae. She was immediately attracted to the Wildlife Biology program and our ideal location for outdoor lovers. Growing up in Florida, she was ready for a change. She attended the Wildlife Science Summer Camp at Lees-McRae, and during that time, she realized she wanted to become a Bobcat.

Christine found that the small size, great professors and unique, hands-on programs at Lees-McRae was exactly what she wanted. The great fit, became even better when she won the prestigious Elizabeth McRae Scholarship covering full tuition. Once at Lees-McRae, Christine discovered the new Outdoor Recreation Management program. It combined everything she was looking for, so she made the choice to change her major.

While at Lees-McRae, she has taken on some great leadership opportunities, organizing programs for fellow students to participate in outdoor activities. Her love for the outdoors has become a reality.

After graduation, Christine hopes to work for various outdoor organizations in the U.S., and one day run her own rock climbing program. The marketing, time management and organizational skills has helped her truly pursue her passion.

What is her advice?
“When choosing a school, make sure to consider if the school has the programs, clubs and opportunities you are looking for. As you decide what classes to take, be open to making changes and exploring new opportunities.”
