Lees-McRae is a private liberal arts college offering diverse academic degrees, strong athletic programs, and an outstanding faculty. The college also offers online programs and degree-completion opportunities in surrounding communities to nontraditional learners, and three online graduate programs. All academic programs incorporate a broad core curriculum, field-specific career preparation, and experiential learning with an emphasis in leadership and service.
Nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Western North Carolina, at an elevation of 4000’, and situated between the two resorts of Sugar Mountain and Beech Mountain, the college’s close proximity to the Town of Banner Elk (population 1,019) and surrounding area provides an excellent quality of life.

Highmark Blue Cross/Blue Shield PPO and EPO medical plan options are offered by the Board of Pensions of the Presbyterian Church. Additionally, Call to Health, a program that provides incentives to employees and spouses for well-being activities, offers a reduction in the annual deductible rates and gift card for participants.Dental
Aetna Dental offers a large in-network of participating dentists, an annual maximum benefit of $2,000, and orthodontia benefit for children 18 or younger.Vision
The Board of Pensions of the Presbyterian Church offers a voluntary vision eyewear program that provides the opportunity to acquire eyeglasses, contacts, and more at a discounted cost. All employees, whether a medical plan participant or not, will be able to select this benefit. The plan does not include an annual exam, as our medical plan already provides this coverage.Life and Disability
The college offers employer paid life insurance coverage up to one times your annual base salary or a $150,000 maximum benefit, as well as employer paid long-term disability coverage. Employees may also select optional employee paid voluntary life coverage through MetLife.Flexible Spending Account

The supplemental retirement plan is available to all full-time employees upon hire. After one year of employment, the College will match up to 5% of the employee’s gross salary contribution to the plan. The eligibility period may be waived for employees with prior creditable year of service.Tuition Waiver Benefits
Tuition only waiver benefits for undergraduate credit classes at Lees-McRae College are available for active full-time employees and their eligible dependents after one year of service.Tuition Exchange Program for Dependent Children

Full-time staff who work regular business days through out a calendar year rather than the academic calendar year accrue 3.07 hours of vacation leave per pay cycle, or 80 hours annually. Additional days are added for years of service.Paid Sick Leave
All full-time staff accrue 8 hours of paid sick time per month.Paid Personal Leave
All full-time staff receive 4 paid personal leave days per fiscal year.Paid Holidays
All full-time staff receive 11 days of paid holiday time annually.College-Closed Paid Time Off
All full-time staff receive a minimum of 10 additional days of paid administrative leave each year during Winter break, revised summer schedule, and paid leave when the college is closed due to inclement weather.Tuition Waiver Benefits

Banner Elk hosts concerts, markets, and community events throughout the year and who can forget the famous Woolly Worm Festival! Just miles from campus, take a drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway and visit nearby towns such as Boone, Blowing Rock, and Linville.
