Scholarly and Professional Achievements
I have been rehabilitating wildlife and educating with live ambassadors as a full time profession for over 20 years. I am the founding president of the Wildlife Rehabilitators of North Carolina (WRNC) and served on the symposium committee for the National Wildlife Rehabilitors Association.
Institutional Service and Responsibilities
I am the director of the May Wildlife Rehabilitation Center. I oversee the operations of the wildlife center, including
ambassador acquisition, training, and care; wildlife rehabilitation operations (with staff veterinarian); student schedules and mentoring program; center work-study; and collaborative fundraising. I also teach five wildlife courses.
Personal Interests
Wildlife rehabilitation is not just a job, it's a lifestyle, therefore I live the life! I am passionate about wildlife and students who want to learn about wildlife.
I worked for the North Carolina Outward Bound School (11 years) and love to be out in the wilderness when I can, with my husband Mike (married 25 years).
I love to cook, and always look forward to our annual pine-straw harvest and spaghetti dinner in the fall at the Fischesser Complex.
