Scholarly and Professional Achievements

My areas of study include Creative Writing, Gender and Sexuality Studies, African American Literature, Southern Literature, Performance Studies, and Archival Research. My article, "How Not to Get Killed: Feminist Aftercare in the Dorothy Allison Papers," recently appeared in Signs 48(4). My short story, “The Chair Kickers’ Tale,” won the 2019 Robert Watson Fiction Award from The Greensboro Review, and my writing has also appeared in West Branch, Lit Hub, Sinister Wisdom, Autostraddle, and elsewhere. I perform as a drag king named Ponyboi, and I am working on a book and performance piece about drag artists who were active in Memphis during the passage of Tennessee's anti-drag legislation.
