Scholarly and Professional Achievements
I was an active duty police officer for over 26 years. I started my career in Atlantic Beach, NC in 1984. I attained the rank of Lieutenant and was in charge of the patrol division. I transferred to the Gaston County Police Department in 1993. There I have completed tours in Patrol, Crime Prevention, Training and DARE. I was promoted to Sergeant in 1999, as served as a Patrol Sergeant and Criminal Investigation Sergeant. I was promoted again in 2003 to the rank of Captain, where I completed assignments in the Patrol and Criminal Investigation Unit.I received my BS in Psychology from the Southeast Missouri State University in 1984 and my Masters of Science in Criminal Justice from University of Cincinnati in 2004. I am a graduate of the FBI National Academy Session 218, and the NC Justice Academy Management Development Program Class 15. I also hold specialized instructor certificates from the NC Training and Standard in Firearms, Physical Fitness and Driving.
