Scholarly and Professional Achievements
Broadly, my expertise is in Biblical Studies, with an emphasis on the Christian New Testament. Within that area, I am more narrowly focused on the literary aspects of the Gospels, especially on the Gospel of Mark. Specifically, I apply the tools of literary criticism to our understanding of New Testament narrative literature.
Institutional Service and Responsibilities
As a professor of religious studies, I am responsible for teaching a wide variety of courses within that field. I also serve as the program coordinator of religious studies and am responsible for planning, scheduling, and representing the program. I am also an active member of the Faculty Senate, where I serve on the Promotion and Contract Conversion committee, as well as on the Core Curriculum committee.
Personal Interests
I enjoy outdoor activities like hiking and backpacking, and I am an avid cyclist.
