Lees-McRae celebrates opening of Daniel May Woodworking Shop
Lees-McRae students, faculty, staff and several college leaders met Wednesday afternoon for the Daniel May Woodworking Shop Dedication Ceremony. The space-- made possible by donations from the May family-- will now feature state-of-the-art wood working equipment housed within its new walls. What was once a dusty parking lot, Lees-McRae President Barry Buxton said, is now a space students, faculty and staff can together learn and grow. Many of the tools were once owned by the building’s namesake, Daniel May, who in 2014 at his residence in Bonita Springs, Florida, passed away peacefully.
