Vice President of Online Learning Bo Bennett named top Catawba County young professional
Earlier this month, Hickory Young Professionals announced its 2016 Top 10 Under 40 Awards, earning Lees-McRae Vice President of Online Learning Bo Bennett a spot on its list.
The awards program is intended to recognize young professionals in Catawba County who not only exceed in the workplace, but also possess outstanding commitment to their own community, according to the Hickory Young Professionals website.
Starting at Lees-McRae in 2012, Bennett has worked for the college for four and a half years first as an adjunct professor before ultimately landing his current role as vice president of online learning.
Bennett said he was humbled by the award and that the work he does for the community and his family is because “it is the right thing to do and I love being involved and helping those that may not have the opportunity to go to school.”
Providing opportunities for students is something that keeps Bennett pushing to provide more and work harder each and every day, Bennett said. “It is my passion.”
In addition to his work at Lees-McRae, Bennett is a decorated U.S. Air Force veteran, and is active in several veteran’s organizations.
His degrees include a B.S. from South University in Savannah, Georgia; an M.A. from University of the Rockies in Colorado Springs, Colorado; and a Ph.D. from Walden University in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He is also a Human Services Board Certified Practitioner (HS-BCP).
