April 26, 2016

Peggy E. Wasmund of Charlotte, NC, received a $2,704 scholarship from Wells Fargo for the current academic year. The scholarship was one of 25 awarded to students enrolled at independent colleges and universities in North Carolina.

The Wells Fargo Scholarships totaled $67,600 and were distributed by The Independent College Fund of North Carolina (ICFNC), a division of North Carolina Independent Colleges and Universities (NCICU). The scholarships are awarded to students from North Carolina who demonstrate financial need.

Peggy, a junior at Lees-McRae College, is majoring in Business Administration and Musical Theatre.

“Wells Fargo is pleased to partner with the Independent College Fund of North Carolina to provide scholarships for deserving students – a tradition of 58 years,” said Leslie Hayes, Business Banking Division manager for the Carolinas at Wells Fargo. “At Wells Fargo, we share the belief that supporting education is one of the most important investments we can make in our country's future. We know the returns on an investment in a great education far exceed those from the best mutual funds.”

Dr. A. Hope Williams, president of NCICU, expressed appreciation for Wells Fargo’s continuing support. “The Wells Fargo need-based scholarship truly helps make college possible for these students with financial need. We are grateful to Wells Fargo for their renewed investment in our students and in the future of our state,” said Dr. Williams.
