College friends gather at Grandfather Mountain for President’s Circle Soirée

For the first time since taking office, President Lee King welcomed generous supporters of the college during the annual President’s Circle Summer Soirée atop Grandfather Mountain on Monday, Aug. 27.

The event was a night for the college to thank those in the community for their contributions and ongoing support of the institution. As part of the theme—moonlight on the mountain—guests enjoyed a night of music, food, and views of the full moon from the Mile High Swinging Bridge.

King said that because of those “individuals that love this institution…we are going to do some incredible things at Lees-McRae. We are grateful for what you do for us and I am grateful for the support you have given me as the new president. I look forward to a long and wonderful relationship with this college and this community.”

During the event, King welcomed Executive Director of Grandfather Mountain Jesse Pope ’02 to share a few remarks.

“I am very excited to see King at Lees-McRae,” Pope said. “I’m excited by his interest in our community and his passion to get Lees-McRae achieving bigger and better things.”
