Lees-McRae Summer Theatre presents Roy Krege Scholarship Extravaganza fundraiser
Lees-McRae Summer Theatre is hosting a special fundraiser to benefit the college’s newly established Roy Krege Servant Leader Scholarship on Sunday, Aug. 2. The show will be hosted in Hayes Auditorium at 3 p.m., and 100% of proceeds will benefit the scholarship.
This one-time event will feature a local talent showcase along with a special performance from America’s Golden Dream Dancers who will perform “Next Stop Broadway,” their hit show recently performed for Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines.
Roy Krege was a long-time employee of the college and member of the Banner Elk community. Krege retired from the college in 1994 after 26 years of service, but his dedication to supporting Lees-McRae Summer Theatre continued through his retirement. He remained a member of the Summer Theatre Advisory Committee until he passed away in June 2025.
This event is the first major step toward reaching the $50,000 endowment threshold for the scholarship. Once the threshold is met, the funds will be used to financially support full-time undergraduate or graduate students who demonstrate exemplary commitment to service, leadership, and civic engagement.
