Senior Julie Gast is a softball standout and a leader in the classroom
Senior Julie Gast has had an accomplished and well-decorated athletic career on the Lees-McRae softball team. After playing on the state championship-winning team during her senior year of high school, Gast was recruited to play for Lees-McRae. She began her collegiate career with a thirst for winning that was inspired by her high school success and continued throughout her next four years as a Bobcat.
Her successes have not just been limited to the softball pitch, however. Gast, who will graduate having majored in Pre-Physical Therapy and minored in Athletic Coaching, is also a high achiever in the classroom. After falling in love with the discipline following an injury of her own, Gast set her sights on earning a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree and began taking the necessary steps to achieve her goals.
“Because of my academics and because of softball, Lees-McRae opened up so many opportunities for me, and I’m forever thankful and grateful for it,” Gast said.
