Lees-McRae College launches new constituent group, ONE Lees-McRae

As Lees-McRae kicks off its 125th anniversary in 2025, the college is also launching a new engagement initiative called ONE Lees-McRae.

By unifying various college stakeholders, including students, parents and families, alumni, donors, employees, and members of the local community, ONE Lees-McRae will build relationships, strengthen institutional engagement, and support long-term goals.

“Our collective spirit has defined this institution since its founding in 1900, and ONE Lees-McRae is a continuation of the strong sense of community that has been essential to our century of success,” President Lee King said. “ONE Lees-McRae connects all constituents with the focus of making our beloved college the best institution it can be. Together, we are ONE Lees-McRae.”

Implementation of the initiative will be a multi-year project. In 2025, ONE Lees-McRae will start by reinvigorating and expanding five current alumni chapters—High Country, Charlotte, Triad, and Triangle in North Carolina, and Washington, D.C./Baltimore, Maryland—and recruiting new leaders and volunteers. Each chapter will recruit a president, career development vice president, engagement vice president, and fundraising vice president who will lead their chapter in holding a ONE Lees-McRae kickoff event in their region. More information about dates and locations of these chapter events will be shared in the coming months via the college website and social media.

Alumni, family members of current students, and friends of the college looking to learn more about ONE Lees-McRae and get engaged with early efforts are invited to connect with Director of Alumni Relations Anna LeBaron via email at lebarona@lmc.edu.

Additional ONE Lees-McRae events planned for 2025 include the college’s Mountain Day of Service on Friday, March 28, and Giving Day on Wednesday, April 9. Alumni chapters will also coordinate with the Office of Admissions to plan events for incoming Lees-McRae students throughout the year.
