Lees-McRae College welcomes new Vice President for Institutional Advancement, Lisa Bowling

Lisa Bowling has accepted the position of Vice President for Institutional Advancement at Lees-McRae College. She will begin her tenure in the role in February 2025.

Bowling comes to the position with vast experience in advancement, alumni relations, and marketing and public relations leadership, across both higher education and corporate spheres. She has held two executive positions regarding institutional advancement, most recently as the Vice President for Institutional Advancement at Ferrum College in Ferrum, Virginia, and previously as the Vice President of Advancement and University Relations at the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, Virginia.

Bowling grew up in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, and says she holds a special place in her heart for the High Country and the people who live, work, and learn here. She is eager to bring her personal investment and professional prowess to her new position.

“Lees-McRae College has a rich and proud history, and its future promises to be even brighter. The college’s mission has proven to be more important than ever, as the campus community faced unprecedented tests this fall with incredible resiliency, positivity, and clarity of purpose. It is a blessing to be able to join Lees-McRae College and to respond to a calling that touches my heart and spirit,” Bowling said. “It is my hope to become a trusted and helpful colleague to all the members of the community I’ll be serving. While my individual impact only will be a small part of the larger handprint of the indelible and life-changing experience that we can offer each student, I am honored to be a part of this mission.”

Bowling holds two bachelor’s degrees from the University of Mary Washington in English and Political Science, along with a Master of Business Administration from Wake Forest University. She also holds a certificate in fundraising management from a program jointly sponsored by Indiana University and Purdue University.

“I have known Lisa for over twenty years as a strong leader, a strategic thinker, a passionate fundraiser, and a strong advocate for her institution. She has been a wonderful teammate and colleague over the years, and I am proud to be collaborating with her again as she takes on this role,” President Lee King said. “With her strong work ethic, and high expectations for her team, I am confident that she will help our institution reach its strategic goals.”
