U.S. News and World Report ranks Lees-McRae College among top 60 online bachelor’s programs for 2026

For the second year in a row, Lees-McRae College is the only private North Carolina college or university in the top 60 institutions on the U. S. News and World Report list of Best Online Bachelor’s Programs for 2026. The college is ranked 56th.

This consistently high ranking exemplifies the college’s commitment to excellence in online programming, and its dedication to creating an academic environment built on experiential learning and real-world applications that prepare students for life after graduation.

“Our online bachelor’s programs are taught with the same dedication and expertise as our on-campus programs, and with the same philosophy of giving our students hands-on experiences that translate to the real world,” Vice President for Academic Affairs Pam Vesely said. “Regardless of whether students earn their Lees-McRae degree right here in Banner Elk, or across the country, we are dedicated to creating the most enriching classroom experience possible.”

The college offers five online bachelor’s programs, including elementary and special education, criminal justice, business administration, and human services. Students can also earn a master’s degree through Lees-McRae online. The college offers graduate programs in teaching, healthcare administration, criminal justice, and human services.
