Family Weekend 2023 gives parents and families the chance to show off their Bobcat pride
It’s that time again when loved ones drop off their students for another year of learning, growing, and experiencing all that Lees-McRae has to offer. In just a few weeks, however, families will have the opportunity to experience life at Lees-McRae for themselves. Family Weekend 2023 will be held Friday, Sept. 15 through Sunday, Sept. 17, and this year families have more opportunities than ever before to explore their students’ mountain home and show off their own Bobcat pride.
“Family Weekend is the best medicine to cure that initial bit of homesickness your student might be experiencing in those first few weeks,” Director of Campus Life Riley Smithey said. “It sets aside intentional time to come be with your student and make memories. We work hard to plan events that meet a wide range of interests so that you don’t have to. All you have to do is show up and have fun with your student, which is how it should be.”
This year, Family Weekend registration is $30 for the whole family and includes exclusive commemorative T-shirts for each participating family member, as well as complimentary drinks from The Blind Elk, a family hike, special behind-the-scenes looks into academic programs like Wildlife Rehabilitation and Criminal Justice, and much more.
Some of the weekend’s activities, such as the Taste of Banner Elk Food Tour, the Alpine Coaster, and Bobcats Go Golfing, have limited capacity, so be sure to register your family early to experience the best of Banner Elk.
